Vratsa District has the largest power plant on the Balkans - the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, which accounts for 41% of the total electricity generated in Bulgaria. The predominant economic branches are the processing industry, trade and services. Industrial development is focused in the following economic sectors: power generation, machine-building, foodstuffs, textiles and clothing, furniture, trade and construction.

NATURAL SIGHTS AND MONUMENTS OF CULTURE |

The district has rich and ancient culture. In the city of Vratsa there are remarkable cultural, historical and architectural monuments of national importance. The Tower of Meshchii and Kurtpashov's Tower were built in the 17-th century A.D. The Regional Museum of History, which includes an art gallery, displays the world-famous gilt silver Thracian treasure from the village of Rogozen. The town of Oryahovo has a museum of history, an Ethnographic House and Diko Iliev's House Museum. There are museum exhibitions and art galleries in the towns of Mezdra and Krivodol, too. The National Museum on the Radetski Steamboat is situated in the town of Kozloduy. Each year participants in the National Tourist Event cover the historic route of Botev and his men from the Danube bank at Kozloduy to Mount Okolchitsa. On the first and second of June in the city of Vratsa and on Mount Okolchitsa there are commemorations dedicated to Botev and those who gave their lives for the freedom of Bulgaria.
